If you aren’t going to the Aviva stadium in Dublin to watch Wales play Ireland in the next round of 6 Nations rugby fixtures on Saturday, why not come and watch the game on television with us? We have an area reserved for our use upstairs in Doheny & Nesbitt’s, Baggot Street, Dublin 2 so come along and support Wales with fellow countrymen and women – the game starts at 14.15. Just look for the red shirts!

Happy Saint Dwynwen’s day from Draig Werdd! Saint Dwynwen is the Welsh patron saint of lovers, which makes her the Welsh version of St. Valentine. So there’s no need to wait until St. Valentine’s day to say to someone close to you “Rwy’n dy garu di”!

Unfortunately due to the unexpected unavailability of a private room at the venue, it was not possible for us to hold our planned annual meeting in Dublin at the start of our social evening on Nov 7th 2019. In response to this, we have made the information that was to be presented to the meeting by the committee available online – this includes minutes of the previous year’s meeting, reports from the chairperson, secretary and treasurer, an update on the status of the plaque for the old Welsh chapel in Dublin and details of planned St. David’s celebrations and events for 2020. Yn anffodus nid oeddem yn gallu cynnal ein Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol fel y cynlluniwyd ar ddechrau ein noson gymdeithasol ar Dachwedd 7fed 2019 oherwydd yn annisgwyl nad oedd ystafell breifat ar gael yn y lleoliad ar y noson. Mewn ymateb i hyn, rydym wedi gwneud y wybodaeth a oedd i’w chyflwyno i’r cyfarfod gan y pwyllgor ar gael ar-lein – mae hyn yn cynnwys cofnodion cyfarfod y flwyddyn flaenorol, adroddiadau gan y cadeirydd, yr ysgrifennydd a’r trysorydd, diweddariad ar statws y plac i’r hen gapel Cymraeg yn Nulyn a’r digwyddiadau i ddathli Ddydd Gŵyl Dewi 2020 yn Iwerddon. Just a reminder – we will be holding a social evening from 7.30pm next Thursday evening Nov 7th upstairs in Doheny and Nesbitt’s, Lower Baggot Street, Dublin, which will give all members and friends the chance to get together and relax and chat over a few drinks and get up to date with all the news and gossip. We will kick the evening off with our annual meeting, leaving plenty of time for socialising afterwards. We are expecting representatives of the Welsh government, Global Wales and Wales Week Worldwide to be there, so there will be a chance to hear about their plans for building up a Welsh presence in Ireland over the coming period and particularly some exciting news about St. David’s Day 2020. This will be a great opportunity for us as a society to build links with other similarly-minded organisations in order to create a strong Welsh representation in Ireland.
If you haven’t been to any of our functions before, then come along and enjoy a good night out in the company of fellow Welsh people and their friends, and help us to continue to promote friendship and solidarity in the Welsh community in Ireland. No pre-booking required, just turn up on the night.
