AGM 2018 CCB

Our Annual General Meeting was held on 22nd November in Doyle’s Bar in Dublin.  Unfortunately there was not a large attendance, and given that the main topic for discussion was the continued existence of a formal society, with elected committee and annual general meetings etc., it might be easy to draw the obvious conclusions.  However, those present had a lively discussion on this and other topics and the opportunity to socialise afterwards.   Click here to view the minutes from the meeting.

A report was given on the current status of the society’s efforts to erect a plaque on the old Welsh chapel in Talbot Street, Dublin – the latest information is available at http://www.welshsociety.ie/welsh-chapel-plaque-update-newyddion-plac-y-capel-cymraeg.  Plans for celebrating St. David’s day in 2019 were also discussed and will be progressed by the new committee.   Following some extended discussions, it was decided to continue with a formal society while the chapel plaque campaign was still outstanding.   The committee will investigate an alternative less formal structure of the society for presentation and discussion at next year’s AGM.

The following committee was elected to serve for 2018-2019:

Richard Morgan (chairperson)
Anne Buttimore (secretary)
Geraint Waters (treasurer)
Gareth Llwyd Jones
Andrew Thomas

Cynhaliwyd ein Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol ar 22 Tachwedd yn Doyle’s Bar yn Nulyn.  Yn anffodus, ‘roedd y nifer oedd yn bresennol yn siomedig, ac o ystyried mai’r prif bwnc i’w drafod oedd bodolaeth cymdeithas ffurfiol, gyda phwyllgor etholedig a chyfarfodydd cyffredinol blynyddol ac ati, efallai y byddai’n hawdd dod â’r casgliadau amlwg.  Fodd bynnag, roedd gan y rhai a oedd yn bresennol drafodaeth fywiog ar hyn a phynciau eraill a’r cyfle i gymdeithasu wedyn.  Cliciwch yma i ddarllen cofnodion y cyfarfod (yn Saesneg).

Rhoddwyd adroddiad ar statws diweddaraf ymdrechion y gymdeithas i godi plac ar yr hen gapel Cymraeg yn Stryd Talbot, Dulyn – mae’r manylion diweddaraf i’w gweld ar http://www.welshsociety.ie/welsh-chapel-plaque-update- newyddion-plac-y-capel-cymraeg. Trafodwyd hefyd cynlluniau ar gyfer dathlu Dydd Gŵyl Dewi yn 2019 a bydd y pwyllgor newydd yn gweithio arnynt. Yn dilyn trafodaethau estynedig, penderfynwyd parhau â chymdeithas ffurfiol tra bod ymgyrch plac y capel yn dal i fynd ymlaen. Bydd y pwyllgor yn ymchwilio i strwythur arall llai ffurfiol i’r gymdeithas i’w gyflwyno a thrafod yng Nghyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol blwyddyn nesaf.

Etholwyd y pwyllgor canlynol i wasanaethu ar gyfer 2018-2019:

Richard Morgan (cadeirydd)
Anne Buttimore (ysgrifennydd)
Geraint Waters (trysorydd)
Gareth Llwyd Jones
Andrew Thomas
