An illustrated talk about the first three flights from Britain to Ireland in April 1912 will be given by Peadar Slattery on 18 April, Easter Monday at 2 pm in the Visitors Centre, Phoenix Park.
The pilots include Denys Corbett Wilson, from a Kilkenny family, who flew from near Fishguard on 24 April and landed safely near Enniscorthy and Vivian Hewitt of Rhyl in north Wales, who flew from Holyhead to Dublin on 26 April and landed elegantly in the Fifteen Acres, Phoenix Park. He was the first to fly into Dublin from outside Ireland.
