Welsh diaspora evening 10/3/20 Noson alltudion Cymreig

Everything is coming into place for our Welsh diaspora evening, taking place in Dublin from 6.30-9pm next Tuesday evening 10th March, with Dome Cymru now installed in the CHQ Building, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1.  This is a great opportunity for Welsh exiles and friends in Ireland to get together with food and drink, poetry and prose, music from choir and harp and lots more, so come along and join us in this unique venue.  Admission is free and there is no need to book – just turn up on the night.

Bethan Kilfoil, RTE in conversation with Sophie Howe, Future Generations Commissioner for Wales Tuesday 10 March 13:00 – 14:00

A live stream to Sophie Howe, Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Dome Cymru, EPIC Emigration Museum, Dublin, Tuesday 10th March, 13:00-14:00

To mark International Women’s Day Sophie Howe, the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, will be appearing via live stream in Dome Cymru as part of Wales Week in Dublin next Tuesday 10 March from 13:00 to 14:00.

Following the Well Being of Future Generations Wales Act panel discussion on the previous day, attendees will have the opportunity to be in conversation with the Future Generations Commissioner herself.   The event will be moderated by Bethan Kilfoil RTE Journalist and Draig Werdd member.

With a remit set out in law to be “the guardian of the interests of future generations in Wales”, Sophie Howe is the world’s only Future Generations Commissioner.   Sophie took up her post in 2016 and has led high profile interventions around transport planning, education reform and climate change, challenging the Government and others to demonstrate how they are taking account of future generations.  She is named in the top 100 Business Women in Wales, is a fellow at Cardiff University Business School and Swansea University, holds an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and a degree in law and politics. She lives in Cardiff with her husband and their five children.

Happy St. David’s Day / Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus

Wherever you happen to be in the world, we’d like to wish you a happy St. David’s Day from Draig Werdd, the Welsh Society in Ireland, and hope that you have an enjoyable and celebratory day.

We will be delaying our St. David’s Day celebrations in Ireland until Tuesday evening March 10th, when we will be hosting an evening in Dome Cymru in the EPIC CHQ Building in Dublin, as part of Wales Week in Dublin which is taking place at the Dome from 9-13 March. Wales Week Dublin 9-13/3 Wythnos Cymru Dulyn

To coincide with St. David’s Day celebrations in Ireland, Wales Week Dublin will be taking place at Dome Cymru, EPIC CHQ building, Dublin 1 from Monday 9 March to Friday 13 March.  Wales Week is a world-wide initiative which supports and encourages activities to celebrate St. David’s Day in multiple locations around the world. Wales Week Dublin is supported by the Welsh Government, who have arranged for the 360 Tech Dome that went to Japan for the Rugby World Cup in 2019 to visit Dublin for the week. Events will be programmed all week, ranging from breakfast events, consumer events (lunch time open to public) and afternoon and evening slots. As part of Wales Week Dublin, Draig Werdd, in partnership with Global Welsh Dublin and Wales Week will be hosting an evening of celebration in the Dome, from 6.30pm – 9pm on Tuesday March 10th. As well as music from harp and choir, poetry and prose there will be opportunities to learn a little Welsh, hear of Global Welsh’s future plans in Ireland, meet Pro14 rugby representatives or just socialise over some food and drink. Entry is free and no pre-booking is required – just turn up on the night.

I gyd-fynd â dathliadau Gŵyl Dewi yn Iwerddon, bydd Wythnos Cymru Dulyn yn cael ei chynnal yn Dome Cymru, adeilad EPIC CHQ, Dulyn 1 rhwng dydd Llun 9 Mawrth a dydd Gwener 13 Mawrth. Mae Wythnos Cymru yn fenter fyd-eang sy’n cefnogi ac yn annog gweithgareddau i ddathlu Dydd Gwyl Dewi mewn sawl lleoliad ledled y byd. Mae Wythnos Cymru Dulyn yn cael ei chefnogi gan Lywodraeth Cymru, sydd wedi trefnu i’r Gromen 360 Tech a aeth i Japan ar gyfer Cwpan Rygbi’r Byd yn 2019 ymweld â Dulyn am yr wythnos. Bydd digwyddiadau’n cael eu cynnal trwy’r wythnos, yn amrywio o ddigwyddiadau brecwast, digwyddiadau i ddefnyddwyr (amser cinio ar agor i’r cyhoedd) a slotiau prynhawn a min nos. St. David’s Celebration 10/03/20 Dathliad Gŵyl Dewi

Draig Werdd – the Welsh Society in Ireland and Global Welsh Dublin are hosting a St. David’s celebration on Tuesday March 10th as part of Wales Week in Dublin 2020. This will be taking place from 6.30-9pm in the Dome at the CHQ Building, Custom House Quay, Dublin 1.

We will be celebrating our national day in this unique setting with music from Dublin Welsh choir, poetry and prose as well as the opportunity to have a few Welsh lessons and meet various guests who will be dropping by. Admission is free – no booking is required so make a point of joining us for the evening to celebrate being Welsh in Ireland.
