An EGM took place on 23 November 2022 to discuss a proposal to suspend the constitution of the society which would remove the necessity to hold an AGM and to elect a committee, and to appoint a number of trustees to manage the assets of the society.

After some discussion it was decided to continue for the present with a reduced committee of 4 members, pending a revision of the constitution to replace the management of the society with a less formal and more flexible structure.  An EGM will be held in May 2023 to consider the proposed changes to the constitution.

Cynhaliwyd CCA ar 23 Tachwedd 2022 i drafod cynnig i atal cyfansoddiad y gymdeithas a fyddai’n dileu’r angen i gynnal Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol ac ethol pwyllgor, ac i benodi nifer o ymddiriedolwyr i reoli asedau’r gymdeithas.

Wedi peth trafodaeth penderfynwyd parhau am y tro gyda phwyllgor o 4 aelod, tra’n aros am adolygiad o’r cyfansoddiad i ddisodli rheolaeth y gymdeithas gyda strwythur llai ffurfiol a mwy hyblyg. Cynhelir CCA ym mis Mai 2023 i ystyried y newidiadau arfaethedig i’r cyfansoddiad.

The Irish Times website has published a video of Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir singing Dafydd Iwan’s stirring song Yma o Hyd (Still Here), the adopted anthem of the Welsh soccer team, recorded on the evening that Wales played their opening game in the 2022 World Cup.  The video can be viewed at https://www.irishtimes.com/video/video/2022/11/22/dublins-welsh-male-voice-choir-perform-yma-o-hyd/.

Dublin Welsh choir is always keen to attract new members, particularly Welsh people who are living in Ireland.

Following a decision taken at our AGM on 19th October, we will be holding an online EGM via Zoom at 8.30pm on Wednesday 23rd November.  The EGM is being called to discuss the following proposal:

It is proposed that the constitution of the society be suspended, with the effect that management of the society by a committee and the holding of an annual general meeting is also suspended.  Any activities will be managed through the Draig Werdd website and the Draig Werdd Facebook group, which will continue to operate.  A number of trustees will be elected to manage the society’s assets – these consist solely of an AIB current account. 

We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to join the meeting in order to contribute to the discussion on the future running of the society.  If you would like to take part, please send an email to info@welshsociety.ie for the joining instructions.

Yn dilyn penderfyniad a wnaed yn ein Cyfarfod Cyffredinol Blynyddol ar 19eg Hydref, byddwn yn cynnal CCA ar-lein am 8.30pm ddydd Mercher 23 Tachwedd. Mae’r CCA yn cael ei alw i drafod y cynnig canlynol:

Cynigir bod cyfansoddiad y gymdeithas yn cael ei atal, gyda’r effaith bod rheolaeth y gymdeithas gan bwyllgor a chynnal cyfarfod cyffredinol blynyddol hefyd yn cael ei atal. Bydd unrhyw weithgareddau yn cael eu rheoli trwy wefan Draig Werdd a grŵp Facebook Draig Werdd, a fydd yn parhau i weithredu. Bydd nifer o ymddiriedolwyr yn cael eu hethol i reoli asedau’r gymdeithas – mae’r rhain yn cynnwys cyfrif AIB yn unig.
