Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru (2)

Further to our earlier post about visiting the National Eisteddfod in Anglesey in August, there has been some interest in organising a group visit for those interested in making the trip.  Day returns, at €15 each, are only available on the Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of the week of the Eisteddfod (7, 9 & 10 August) – the advertised €6.50 fare is only available on Tuesdays and is already sold out on 8 August.  Cheap day returns are not available on Fridays and Saturdays.

In this case, we are proposing to visit the Eisteddfod on Monday 7 August (the August Bank Holiday in Ireland), when the ceremony of the crowning of the bard will be taking place at 16.30 in the Eisteddfod pavilion.   The travel schedule is as follows:

08.20 sailing from Dublin port to Holyhead (arrives 11.50)
12.06 bus from Holyhead railway station to Bodedern School (arrives 12.36).  The Eisteddfod field is a short walk from here
18.28 bus from Bodedern school to Holyhead railway station (arrives 18.59).
20.30 sailing from Holyhead to Dublin port (arrives 23.45).

There is some car parking available at Dublin port for €9 per day.  Alternatively a bus service runs at 07.15 from Westmoreland Street in Dublin city centre to the port at a cost of €3.  However, there is no return bus service meeting the 23.45 arrival from Holyhead.

If you are interested in travelling, send an email to info@welshsociety.ie.  Ferry tickets will need to be purchased individually.  This may be done online at https://www.stenaline.ie/ferries-to-britain/day-trips/dublin-holyhead-superferry.

Nid yw tocynnau dychwelyd diwrnod ar gael o gwbl ar ddydd Gwener a dydd Sadwrn.
