We are premiering a brand new show called Waters Wide in The Clancy Brothers Festival on Saturday the 4th of June in Carrick on Suir. It blends the songs, music, dance with stories, poetry and drama from Ireland, Wales and Scotland. We already have many from Wales coming over and would love to see the Welsh of Ireland there!
Dewch yn llu i’r digwyddiad unigryw hwn rhwng y gwledydd Celtaidd!

  4. I noted your article on Padraig Pearse’s award at the Eisteddfod in 1899. Next to it was a speech from Count Plunkett from the “Irish National Literary Society”.I presume this is the father of another of the signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, Joseph Mary Plunkett?

If so, he went on to become the first elected Sinn Fein MP in 1917 when he won the North Roscommon seat in the by-election following the death of James O’Kelly – thus providing the I916 rebels with an initial, albeit retrospective, democratic mandate for their actions.

  5. Hi my name is Niamh Honer from the Civic, Theatre Tallaght.

  7. Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me with an unusual request?

I’m currently looking for a fluent Welsh speaker who would consider some contract work in IT?

Good money on offer but the person must be a fluent Welsh speaker.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Graham Keegan

  8. Hello

I was the one of the original founders of Draig Werdd (I used to live in Co. Cork). I designed the orange Welsh dragon that you have on the top of your web site. In fact I also designed the original web site which had a yellow background.

The current image has a yellow border around it which makes it look unattractive. I have a version without the yellow border and I can email it to your webmeister if I can have his or her email address.

    Hwyl

    Richard

    1. Hello Richard,

Good to hear from you and thanks for the suggestion for improving the logo. If you could email it to admin@welshsociety.ie then we’ll use it to update the website. Hope all is well with you all.

      Hwyl,

      Geraint

  9. I would like to make contact with a Welsh speaking person in the Cork area. I need some help in translating and speaking about two sentences in Welsh, which I have to deliver at an upcoming wedding.

I appreciate any help you can give.

  10. Hello! Just wanted to get in touch….I am originally from South Wales (Pembrokeshire to be exact) and have been living in Dublin for ten years. I am interested in knowing more about the society and how to go abut joining? Also wondering if it is only for Welsh speakers as I do not speak Welsh, coming from the English speaking area of Pembrokeshire and also having some Irish connections! Would be grateful for any information, many thanks!
    Martin Jenkins.

    1. Thanks for the post, Martin. We’ll add your name to our member list so you’ll receive notification of activities and news via email from now on. We have no language or other restriction in the society – all are welcome, wherever in the world you’re from and whatever language you do (or don’t) speak.
